The Foyle Community Work Programme (FCWP) was launched in July 2015. The project was made possible through financial assistance from the Executive Office (TEO) Delivering Social Change, Social Investment Fund (SIF). It aims to make life better for people living in areas by reducing poverty, unemployment and physical deterioration.
The Derry-Londonderry SIF Zone Steering group identified the FCWP as one of its strategic priorities. GSAP were appointed the Lead Partnership Organisation in June 2014 to deliver the FCWP throughout the former Derry City Council Area. Customised Training Services (CTS) were appointed as Service Delivery organisation.
The FWCP is a new collaborative, community led approach based on improving employability and creating meaningful pathways for those furthest removed from the Labour market in the Derry City Council area. The project was direct at young people between the ages of 16-24 (not in education, employment or training) and adults who are long term unemployed or economically inactive, have no or low level qualification and who may have additional problems to accessing and remaining in employment.
